RESULTS
Congratulations to Acorn Explorers for winning the Monopoly Run with a score of 988 out of a possible 1170, and everyone who competed on the day. They walked away with the trophy (click here) and other prizes of a Monopoly Game and a compass each. Although teams were meant to visit places on the original monopoly board, one team decided instead to visit Heathrow and Wembley Stadium.
After awarding certificates and prizes, the evening finished with a disco. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it an enjoyable day. Any feedback would be appreciated and we look forward to seeing you for Monopoly Run 2009.

MONOPOLY RUN RULES & INFORMATION

  1. “GO” is at the Islington Scout Centre, 319-321 Holloway Road, Islington, N7 9SU. Holloway Underground Station is a short distance away and it is recommended that teams arrive via public transport. There is some limited parking available directly outside the Centre.

  2. Teams must consist of 4-5 Explorers/Scouts wearing their group, unit or district scarf.

  3. This is a joint Explorer/Scout event and participants should be over the age of 12 and under 18 on the day of the event.

  4. For joint Explorer/Scout teams no fewer than 2 must be current Explorer Scouts. It is recommended that the team should consist of at least one older Explorer Scout as team leader.

  5. It is the responsibility of the Unit/Scout Leader to ensure that their teams are confident and competent to travel independently in London, and that permission has been granted from team member's parent/guardian to do so.

  6. If necessary it is permissible for the 5th team member to be an Explorer or Scout Leader.

  7. Teams are to register from 9:00 for departure from "GO" between 9:00 and 10:00.

  8. Teams are to return to “GO” at the Islington Scout Centre between 16:30 and 18:30. Teams returning outside these hours will incur a penalty.

  9. Cost is £12 per team and includes the entry fee for the competition and disco. It does not include the cost of travel cards, transport to and from the Islington Scout Centre, food, or any other cost incurred during the competition.

  10. Each team will need to bring a digital camera (with spare batteries) with a common memory card (so we can download), a couple of mobiles (for emergency use), and travel-cards (zones 1-2) for everyone. It is also recommended that teams bring a map of the London Underground and familiarise themselves with the locations of a standard classic Monopoly board.

  11. Travel in London is either on foot or by public transport. Use of cars, bikes, or taxis is not permitted.

  12. Any team or team member retiring before the conclusion of the event must notify the organisers immediately.

  13. Teams must stay together at all times. In the event of separation or an incident/accident the team must inform the organisers immediately. A contact/emergency number will be issued at the start.

  14. Points will be awarded for visiting each of the locations and answering questions. Penalties will be incurred for returning to “GO” outside the hours of 16:30 - 18:30, breaking any of the rules, or partaking in any action not deemed to be in the spirit of the competition.

  15. It is hoped that results will be announced during the evening where a number of prizes will be awarded.

  16. A disco will be held afterwards at the Islington Scout Centre from 19:00 to 23:00. This will be for the participants of the Monopoly Run only.

  17. For teams wanting to stay somewhere overnight Scout Park provides camping facilities nearby. For more information click here
